Tit for Tat. India versus Pakistan. Lahore Day 3.

Virender Sehwag is the one Indian batsman who has reserved his best for Pakistan, in Pakistan. Over the last two years he has added the ability to concentrate over long periods to an already devastating batting style to become one of our most effective test batsmen. Paradoxically, he now looks more composed playing tests than ODI's.

Only 15 overs were possible today and India scored 80 off them. Play was called off early and India ended the day on 145/0 off only 28 overs (5.2 an over). Sehwag played as only he can, creaming 96 off only 89 balls. The Pakistan bowlers were guilty of giving him width outside off and he hit some stinging drives on the rise that fielders could only watch or escort to the boundary. He was untroubled by the bowling except for some well directed bouncers from Shoaib. His 96 contains 20 fours! Rahul looked very compact and displayed immaculate technique and poise in getting out of the way of the short stuff.

Danish Kaneria was given only 2 overs but did not make an impression. He got a lot less turn than Bhajji.

The pitch has turned out to be a great leveller and I expect to see a long batting masterclass. Enjoy what you can. So long, folks.
